World Entrepreneurs’ Day 2016

world-entrepreneurs-dayWorld Entrepreneurs’ Day is being held this Sunday 21st August, 2016 so I thought we should celebrate!

According to their website, “the purpose of the World Entrepreneurs’ Day is to create awareness for entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership throughout the world. WED is the perfect day to celebrate the people who starts a business alone. WED is the day of founders, managers, producers, contractors, industrialists, innovators, administrators, designers and producers. AIBA, the Alliance of International Business Associations invites everyone to organize happenings around the world to promote WED. World Entrepreneurs Day is a great opportunity to push philanthropic, social and ethical business practices via conferences, awards and initiatives.”

At Business in Heels we’ve been celebrating entrepreneurial women in the lead up to this day, well we celebrate them every day – but you can read some of the stories that have been shared here.

If you know and/or admire someone with entrepreneurial spirit – how about you give them a shout out here, I’d love to meet them.

Strike or Stryke?

stryke-logo3I haven’t been ten pin bowling for a while so I think I’ll stick with Stryke today!

Stryke is an App available from both the Apple and Android stores and is used by The Tax Chic for new tax returns.

To be eligible to use the App you must be registered on my Tax Agent Lodgement list (so please don’t try and download the App and submit your return without contacting me first, as it simply won’t work).

But once you are registered with me, it is very EASY to use!

All you do is answer a questionnaire, take photos of your documents with your smart-phone and then press submit – I’ll do all the rest!

The Stryke App fits perfectly with our aim for online and paperless returns, and is a great partner with Xero Tax and our E-signatures.

Remember, I’m your girl when it comes to tax, get in contact today!

Port Fairy Women’s Weekend 2016

Since 1998 the Port Fairy Community House has organised and delivered The Port Fairy Women’s Weekend.

The 2016 weekend will be held on 27 – 28 August, and tickets are now available!

The Port Fairy Women’s Weekend offers women two full days of workshops and activities focussing on creativity and wellbeing.  It’s a chance to inspire and invigorate your mind, body and soul.

Organisers say “The program is almost finalised.  Think strengthening your body through mindfulness and yoga, exercising your creative powers through art and writing, nourishing your body with whole foods and learning how to realise your strengths and dreams with guidance from some truly inspiring women.  And did we mention furoshiki, drumming, singing and fermentation?  They’re all in there too!”

On a personal note I am delighted to be involved with the Saturday afternoon panel “Celebrating Involvement – how passionate women positively impact their community” – it is an honour to be invited onto the panel and I look forward to seeing everyone there!

2016 Census TONIGHT!

checklistTonight is Census night in Australia, are you ready?

The Census is compulsory. Everyone in Australia on Census night must complete the Census. The information is collected under the authority of the Census and Statistics Act 1905.

This year the Census is able to be completed online and you should have received details of your login in the mail (snail-mail…), but you can still complete a manual form if you prefer, and it’s not too late to request one.

Click on these links to answer these frequently asked questions:

Do I have to do the Census?

How do I complete the Census?

Remember, participating in the Census is vital to ensuring the statistics of Australia are up to date and relevant, let’s all do our part.
